PP NRV Nut Bolt Plain & Threaded
General Description and Properties
PP nuts and bolts are valued for their specific material properties that make them a good alternative to metal fasteners in certain environments.
- Material: Made from Polypropylene (PP), a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer known for its durability and chemical stability.
- Corrosion Resistance: They are highly resistant to most acids, alkalis, and solvents, making them suitable for use in chemical processing, water treatment, and marine environments where metal fasteners would rust or corrode.
- Lightweight: Polypropylene has a low density (around 0.9 g/cm³), making the fasteners significantly lighter than metal alternatives.
- Electrical Insulation: As a non-conductive plastic, PP fasteners are ideal for use in electrical installations and electronic devices to prevent short circuits and electrical interference.
- Temperature Resistance: They can generally withstand temperatures up to approximately 80°C (176°F) for continuous use, but have a lower melting point than some other plastics (160°C to 170°C).
- Durability: They offer good tensile strength and impact resistance but are not suitable for high-load or structural applications where greater mechanical robustness is required.
- UV Resistance: Standard PP has poor UV resistance and requires stabilizing additives for prolonged outdoor use.
